Plymouth

A world in crisis, the taint of hatred engulfing Europe,
Yet the Americas mostly untouched for a time.
Creeping from the dark of financial uncertainty,
Rescued by the conflict so distant and far away.
Detroit offered means to express hope for a time,
Before that means was drafted to new purpose–war.

Has Seen Better Days

Across the Eastern mountains, settlers arrived with hope,
Leaving the coastal cities for a new beginning.
Snatching land from people respecting the natural resources,
Forcing the People and the ground into submission.
Leaving in their wake, as time advanced,
The remnants cast off with their diminished utility.

Little Workhouse of the Sky

Power for the sky, cooled by air,

Lifting knights of the ether to do battle.
Transporting pawns of terra-firma,
And supplying both with needed effects.
Sturdy, and strong...horses of the sky,
Out of reach of all but cavaliers aloft.

Swaying Path to Security

The swaying walking bridge bounces with each step,

Suggesting insecurity of the unstable platform.
Between the high rock anchors,
Wood and steel sway.
Only temporary anxiety leads to the safety of bedrock,
Found on the other side.

On the shores of the small great lake,

A village of past glory relives its past.
Along the streets, regularly in time and place,
Vintage motors display their best.
From typical coupe to towncars of every color,
And the British Rover in its splendor.

Golden Desent

Duties completed, the long descent nears its end,

Seafarers, safe again today...if they only observe the signs.
Other earthbound duties remain, such as they are,
Repairs and maintenance to home and light.
And simple pleasures that feed the soul,
As tending the plot of land filled with God’s roses.
