Easter weekend, 2015, we explored Great Smoky Mountains National Park. As we went toward Clingman's Dome, the weather changed from cool and wet to cold and icy. The trees and foliage were coated with ice and snow. As I walked up the trail to the dome, I spotted what appeared to be Queen Anne's Lace covered in ice. The sight was an icy beauty. I was only prepared for cool weather, however, and had to turn back. One day I want to go back with heavy cover, and the road to the dome open. I can't wait to explore the icy reaches of the Smokies.
