In the early 1870s, a limestone lighthouse was constructed on a point thirty miles from the mouth of the Niagara river.  Thirty Mile Point lighthouse provided warning of a sandbar off the point.  Today, the lighthouse is the anchor of Golden Hill State Park, and operates a museum, tours of the tower, and rents the second floor to guests.  For me, it is always a symbol of home in Barker, NY.
