A cool spring day a couple years ago took us on a day-trip to the beautiful city of Charleston, SC. We walked along the waterfront, had a wonderful seafood lunch, and explored the old slave auction house. As we headed back to our car, we stumbled into the church area of the city. Each house of worship was impressive, although few were open on a Saturday. However, there were two that allowed us to enter and take in the grandeur of the 19th century buildings. The Unitarian Universalist Church had an intriguing history, and a doctrine I found unfamiliar. The Catholic church, however, held traditional beauty of orthodox cathedrals. But when leaving the ornate interior, my eyes were drawn upward as this style church was designed to do.
