Looking back up the Yosemite Valley across the river provided an amazing view. The clouds provided wonderful detail to the sky. While it was a warm day, the road above was closed due to snow. We never made it to the upper meadows and passes, yet we enjoyed the beauty of the earliest protected lands in the United States. During May, the crowds had already begun to flock to the valley. While we could have visited the higher roads in June or July, the valley would have been full. Sometime, I would love to visit the valley in the winter months to see the contrast. Make plans to visit our national parks--they are worth the cost.
