In November 1863 a battle raged in Chattanooga, TN. Due to an unusual weather condition, fog rolled in and the top of Lookout Mountain was above the clouds. Almost 150 years later, I visited Point Park and made my way to the end of the trail. There I found this rock formation overlooking the valley and river southwest of the city. I could imagine the Confederates near this rock throwing grenade and shell over the cliffs. One Union officer, far below, described the scene as "...a fire and cloud capped Sinai."
